Date: January 30, 2019
Place: Vitality Stadium
Chelsea had to forget the night in the Premier League when she was defeated 4-0 in the hands of Bournemouth on Wednesday night.
Blues received a good pass through the middle of the penalty area, defender Mateo Kovacic who hit it through the left hand side of the goal for Asmir Begovic.
After a slow change, Bournemouth jumped his first chance halfway through when David Brooks forced Kep Arrizabalaga to the penalty spot at a distant location.
Brooks went into the boxing and Welshman finished close to the boxing but Arrizabalaga was on hand to take a look at the 37 minutes.
Two minutes into the break, Cherries stunned visitors when Josh King famously blew the ball past Arrizabalaga after Brooks was tied up.
Chelsea tried to create a transparent hole that forced Pedro to shoot 30 yards before he got into the box for 57 minutes.
Brooks was eventually rewarded for their heads as David Luiz knocked it home to make the score 1 – 0 after 63 minutes, following a good exchange of passes on the right that the away team failed to deal with.
January signing Gonzalo Higuain was closed after a minimum strike and Frenchman Olivier Giroud filled his shoes two minutes later.
The remaining 15 minutes in the competition, Junior Stanislas ingenuously set the king to his second and Bournemouth's third evening.
Cherries defended scoring in the second half of the time stop when Charlie Daniels made four with a free kick from Jordon Ibe.
Eddie Howe's side jumped from 12th to 8th in front of Everton, while Blues fell to fifth.
