INVolkswagen has promised that there will be no less than 20 innovations in our region by 2020, some of which are already known and are about to arrive in Argentina – similar to T-Cross and others, will be presented in the coming months. This is an adventurous variant that will be based on the Polo and will be the third alternative for a hatchback, along with the GTS sports version. The novelty is that the German brand would have registered a label in INPI (Institute of National Industrials in Brazil) that will wear this version with aesthetic: it is called T-Sport.
This is indicated by some media in the neighboring country that has accessed the entity's records and revealed that information. If this were to be confirmed, the name would maintain a clear relationship with the rest of the crossovers and SUVs that already have the above-mentioned T-Cross and T-Roc, except Tarek, Tiguan and Touareg.
T-Sport will be produced at the Sao Bernardo do Campo plant, where it will share the same field and Virtus assembly line, which also uses the MQB-A0 platform. As expected, it stands out from the hatchback for a pseudo-off-road aesthetics, with plastic protection at the bottom of the body, roof bars and, we estimate, more ground clearance. The goal will be to compete with other similar B designs, such as the recently introduced Fiat Argo Trekking, Honda WR-V, Toyota Yaris X-Way, Renault Sandero Stepway and Chevrolet Onix Activ.
It is worth noting that in the middle of last month Volkswagen stopped production at the Anchieta plant (Sao Bernardo do Campo), but not because of low demand, but adapted it to the production of this crossover variant and increased its capacity. There are no data or details about them, just some unofficial sketches that predict what the T-Sport will look like.
