In the year in which the gender equality in Congress must be made, the National Representative Elisa Carrió On Tuesday, he insisted on drafting a sanction for the law authorizing a female quota at the Supreme Court and at various federal and national courts. He did so through an improved project with the entry of the Chamber of Deputies, which copied the initiative he advocated in 1999, before the end of the presidency, Carlos Menem.
For the leader of the Civic Coalition and co-founder of the Cambiemos Alliance, at least two women should be part of the Supreme Court, out of five members currently forming the highest court of the country. In that regard, he proposed to amend Article 21 of the Decree of Law No 1285 of 1958 to establish that the Supreme Court should be composed of "five judges, of which at least two must be women".
At present, the Supreme Court of the country consists of Carlos Rosenkrantz (president), Ricardo Lorenzetti, Juan Carlos Maqueda, Horacio Rosatti and Elena Highton of Nolasco. Similarly, the project assumes that a minimum female quota of one third of women will be used to integrate the Chambers of the Criminal Cassation Court, federal courts and federal chambers for prosecution of the autonomous city of Buenos Aires.
Also for the national courts of law, the National Criminal Complaints Chamber, the Federal Crime Court and the Federal Chamber of Commerce for Economic Crime.
