On the eve of the Los Angeles Motor Show, Porsche introduced the eighth generation 911. The 992 was created practically from the start, but retained the look of its predecessor.
The new 911 is slightly larger than the previous model. The front is, for example, wider by 45 mm. Porsche does not indicate the remaining dips, but it is obvious that the body has a larger wheelbase and front overhang.
The front wheels are 20 and the rear – 21 inches. The handles are "dug" in the door and a ribbed hood reminiscent of the initial generation of the iconic model.
First, the 992 will be equipped with a sophisticated boxer from the previous generation. The 3.0-liter engine has a fuel injection system, various turbochargers and an optimized air cooler.
In the Carrera S and Carrera 4S versions, the sixth axle has developed 450 horses, which is 30 more than the predecessor. Transmission is a new robot with eight speeds and two clutches.
With this engine, the rear wheel modification will start from 0 to 100 for 3.7 seconds and the all-wheel-drive Carrera 4S for 3.6. The Sport Chrono sports package improves the acceleration time by 0.2 seconds. The maximum speed of the Carrera S is 308 and Carrera 4S – 306 km / h.
In the main salon in 992, a 10.9-inch diagonal screen appeared. Below is a compact block of five-button switches for quick access to the most important car features.
There are two intact screens on both sides of the conventional tachometer. For the first time in the history of 911 there is a night vision system with a thermal imaging camera.
The new Wet Motion mode will be available for 992. The Porsche Wet function detects when the road is slippery and informs the driver of the need to enter the appropriate settings.
Porsche already accepts orders for the new 911 in Carrera S and Carrera 4S. The basic price of the rear-wheel drive version is € 120,125 and the double version costs € 127,979.
