The winter came in full strength and with it the first confirmed cases of influenza. The mother and her baby are identified with so-called swine flu. Hundreds of thousands every year in our country suffer from influenza, and for some of them the disease is fatal.
"Two days ago, the National Reference Laboratory conducted the first cases of influenza in Sofia, and four times as many flu strains have been detected in the last week in the EU," explained Prof. Todor Kantardjiev, Director of the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases in "Hello Bulgaria".
WIN IS: Do people cripple the flu?
Characteristically, young people are particularly ill. Studies have shown that the complications of influenza affect the lungs.
"In recent years, systemic aspergillosis is one of the complications of severe pneumonia in influenza," explained Professor Kantardjiev.
Dr. Kunchev: There are no antibiotics in viral infection
According to him, people in almost every country complain about a cough that lasts for months. But there are other viruses that are characteristic of the fall. Winter viruses have not yet arrived. Those people who have a cough should be more careful because they are more prone to flu.
Symptoms include fever, joint pain, headache and eye irritation from light, prof. Todor Kantardjiev. Flu develops rapidly – within hours.
When is the best time for a flu vaccine?
"He, unlike all viral winter infections, usually has a short incubation time – a day, a day and a half, one infected for five to seven days," said the director of the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases.
