New Porsche 911 Carrera S and 4S 2020 – Stronger, More Dynamic, Unmistakable 911

Faster, more emotional and more intertwined – there is the eighth generation of the Porsche 911. On the eve of the Los Angeles Auto Show, the new 911 celebrated its world premiere at the Porsche Experience Center in Los Angeles. With an exterior that unmistakably reflects Porsche design DNA, a more muscular look and a completely new interior design, the new 911 is both timeless and modern. The new generation of six-stroke turbochargers was further developed to be stronger than ever before and delivered 443 horsepower in the S models. Thanks to the improved injection process and new turbocharger and intercooling configuration, engine efficiency was further optimized. Power is delivered with a new eight-speed twin-clutch gearbox. New assistive systems, such as the standard Porsche Wet Mode for driving wet drivers and optional Night Vision Assist with a thermal imaging camera, are part of the expanded field of available active driver assistance features. New Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with a larger 10.9-inch touch screen (up to 7.0 in the previous car) and comprehensive connectivity, optional Adaptive 18-way Sport Seats Plus with improved lateral support, precisely tuned PASM dampers and extended Digital features ensure greater convenience and everyday usability.

911 models of the Carrera S with a performance of 443 hp
The turbocharged 911 Carrera S and 911 Carrera 4S now produce 443 hp. This corresponds to an increase of 23 hp compared to the previous model. It is equipped with an 8-speed dual-link PDK gearbox as standard. The 911 Carrera S Coupe rear wheel drive needs only 3.5 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour from the stop and the 911 Carrera 4S Coupe with all-wheel drive takes just 3.4 seconds. This means that both cars are 0.4 seconds faster than the previous model. This advantage is extended by an additional 0.2 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package, 3.3 seconds for the Carrera S and 3.2 seconds for the Carrera 4S. The top speed is now 191 miles per hour (911 Carrera S) and 190 miles per hour for the all-wheel drive version. Manual transmission will be offered later.

Bright design language, unmistakable identity
The exterior was improved and highlights the jump in the new Porsche 911. A significantly wider arc of the wheel housing over the large 20-inch front wheels and 21-inch rear wheels. The front of the body increased by 45 millimeters (1.77 inches), creating space for a wider front line. It is responsible that the width of the rear of the 911 Carrera S and 911 Carrera 4S increased to 1,852 mm (72.91 in), which is the width of the previous 911 Carrera 4 and 911 GTS. The embedded integration of electric doors, which, when needed, point outwards, emphasize a bevelled and smooth outline. With the exception of the front and rear facades, the entire outer layer is made of aluminum.

The completely new interior features clear and straight lines of the dashboard with built-in tools. Porsche 911 models from the 1970s gave inspiration here. The left and right of the centrally located tachometer, which is characteristic of Porsche, provide the driver with two thin frameless displays in free form. Thanks to the new architecture, the PCM can be controlled quickly and intuitively. Below the display is a compact five-button panel that allows direct access to the main functions of the vehicle. As far as digitization is concerned, 911 is more bound than ever before with new features and services. The standard PCM system includes the Porsche Connect Plus system, which includes information about online traffic based on swarm data. (Subscription is required after the initial 12 month period.)

The Night Vision Assist feature with thermal imaging camera is available for the first time. The Adaptive Cruise Control feature includes automatic distance control, stop-go functionality and an innovative emergency assistant function.
