SaskTel claims that someone who tries to make a long-distance call or make a call to a freephone will have to wait, because both of these features are currently offline.

Anyone attempting to make a long-distance call or make a phone call to a free number has had to be patient during a SaskTel failure that affected these services on Monday.

The outages have affected both fixed lines and mobile phone customers for several hours. SaskTel first issued a failure statement at 9:26 pm At 12:30 pm, Tweeted updated that failure was corrected and would continue to monitor the situation throughout the day.

The Regina Police Service (RPS) said its phone line, which is not extraordinary, was also affected. From 11:37 AM, RPS said its phone line was restored. The SAS and the RCMP also issued a statement that their non-emergency telephone lines did not work and asked the residents not to call 911 if they did not. SPS later confirmed the phone line renewal.

The city of Regina said it had some "technical difficulties" with some telephone systems.

SaskTel has not yet told what caused the outage.
