Detroit, MI – January 14, 2019 Subaru Tecnica International (STI), a subsidiary of Subaru Corporation, a subsidiary, today unveiled STI S209 with limited access, the first STI STI product to be produced exclusively for the US market. As the S-line STI S209 product, it includes improved performance, control, aerodynamics and driver involvement, and

undergo a final assembly in Kiryu, Japan, where they will receive engine modifications and body changes that generally require them to be homologated for the US through STIs; therefore S209 is considered the first "Subaru sold in the STI" sold in the US The S209 carries a high performance tradition dating back to the STI-built models that were exclusive to the Japanese domestic market – 2000 S201 in 2018 S208.

Designed with an emphasis on high-performance driving style, the S209 draws inspiration and technology transfer from the most impressive STI tracked machine – the WRX STI Nürburgring Challenge, which gained the SP3T class in 2018 at 24 hours Nürburgring. class SP3T on an exhausting endurance race. The S209, as well as the Nürburgring Challenge, carries widespread, wide-body trim that extends the overall width of the vehicle by 72.4 inches or 1.7 inches larger than the standard WRX STI. Explosion-proof mudguards are equipped with wider front / rear wheels (+ 0.6 front / rear) and 265/35 Dunlop GT600A tires, which are packed in the summer months and packed around light 19×9-inch forged BBS aluminum wheels. The new tires, developed exclusively for Dunlop S209, make a significant contribution to the sustained maximum lateral grip of the vehicle over 1.0 g. Front bumper fans provide additional engine cooling while the air vents on the rear bumpers eliminate air turbulence and reduce pull. The Brembo rotating steel rotors and 6-piston front brakes with monoblocks and 2-piston monoblock rear bumps provide high braking power thanks to partially improved high friction padding to provide better fade resistance.

Under the body of the wider body S209 are specially developed Bilstein® shock absorbers, reinforced coil springs, a 20 mm rear stabilizer bar and pillow bushings for front / rear side joints. The S209 features reinforcements on the front transversal beams and rear auxiliary caliber a, and the Nürburgring racing car, a flexible front tower reinforcement tower and flexible front / rear drawbar stiffeners. The flexible tower rod, unlike a conventional rigid rod, is divided and connected to the center ball joint in the center to be longitudinally movable and to help laterally reinforce the body of the car. The result is optimal adhesion of the tire during lateral moments combined with a satisfactory ride during longitudinal moments. Intermediate reinforcements attract tension between the body and the cross member to optimize chassis flexure, improve cornering stability, and provide better ride, handling and steering responsiveness. Another Nürburgring racing car that collapses on the S209: front, rear and side spoilers; front bumpers; and a carbon fiber roof panel and a rear wing.

The completely redesigned version of the legendary 2.5-liter BOXER turbocharger with the EJ25 drives the S209. With the STI turbocharger manufactured by HKS®, the EJ25 serves approximately 341 horsepower, partly thanks to a larger turbine and compressor (6 and 8 percent compared to the WRX STI), as well as a maximum increase in pressure that has increased to 18.0 psi (16 , 2 psi for WRX STI). The heart of serial number S209 uses an improved BOXER engine forged joints and connecting rods that are lighter and stronger. Also, the center torque is characterized by a significant impact of 10% at 3600 rpm, which results in higher speeds when driving on the track.

For final driver engagement, the S209 is delivered exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox with a narrow ratio that delivers energy to the Subaru Symmetrical Full-Wheel Symmetrical Full-Wheel Drive with Front / Back Differential with Limited Clutch, DCCD Controller), Active Torque Vector and controlling the dynamics of multi-mode vehicles. The recalibrated SI-Drive system offers three modes: intelligent (I) for improved fuel economy and smoother performance control; Sport (S) for optimized balance of performance between response and control; and Sport Sharp (S #) to achieve the best acceleration times. STI engineers recommend Sport Sharp to control the circuit as the less aggressive throttle map allows greater driver control.

To power more air into the EJ25 system, the S209 system uses a high-pressure suction system with a new inlet duct, an induction cone with a cone air filter, a silicone turbocharger inlet and a 2004-07 WRX STI nodule, water spray between a water system that reduces the temperature of the intercoolers by hand paddle steering wheel. More air requires more fuel, so the S209 will receive a new high-pressure fuel pump, larger fuel injectors, and a STI engine control module. High performance shock absorbers provide 17 percent less airflow resistance and eliminate approximately 4 kg. Finally, larger, polished stainless steel exhaust tips – 101 mm in diameter – bring aggressive looks and acoustics.

The S209 gets several improvements to lift it from the other STI sedans. The STI replaces the traditional Subaru cluster in the center of the D-shaped steering wheel, packed in the Ultrasuede® with silver stitching, a treatment that transmits the center console lid cover. The S209 serial number is located on the center console, and the S209 badges are decorated with a front-passenger sketch and front-seat Recaro® front headrests fitted with new silver attachments. On the outside, the special gauge S209 as well as the rear decklid are mounted on the front grille and mudguards.

Only about 200 STI S209 will be built exclusively for the US. Available combinations of exterior colors and BBS combinations will be WR Blue Pearl / gray wheels and Crystal White Pearl / gold wheels. Prices will be announced closer to the sale date by the end of 2019.
