The idea of "superheroes, but evil" was kicked as long as the genre did not exist. While there were many comics that explored this idea, there was not so much in terms of movies or television. It looks like this next Memorial Day will change. Sony Pictures released the first trailer for James Gunn made superhero horror film Brightburn.
It looks like a lot of iconography we are very familiar with and that is what will probably make it interesting. Gunn cut his teeth horribly and really helped change the genre of the superhero Guardians of the Galaxy. While he does not follow and does not seem to be writing any songs, Gunn's name will be ahead of us, despite what happened at Disney.
Summary: What if a child from another world crashed on Earth, but instead of becoming the hero of humanity, it turned out to be something much more sinister? With Brightburn, the visionary filmmaker Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither, is a surprising, subversive takeover of a radical new genre: the superhero.
Brightburn, directed David Yarovesky, stars Elizabeth Banks, David Denman, Jackson A. Dunn, Matt Jones, and Meredith Hagner. It will be released on May 24, 2019.
