CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida – The next month the landing of America will be made by private companies – not NASA.
NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine announced on Thursday that nine US companies will compete for experiments on the surface of the moon. Bridenstine claims that NASA will buy this service and allow the private industry to process details on how to get there.
The aim is to get scientific and technological experiments on the Moon as soon as possible. The first flight could be next year. 2019 commemorates the 50th anniversary of the first landing with the crew.
The announcement comes just three days after NASA landed a Mars spacecraft. NASA wants to see how it goes to the moon before it commits to commercial delivery on Mars.
