Part 127 of the street in northwest Edmonton was switched off Wednesday night after the death of a pedestrian.
Just before 8:30, the police said 127 streets are closed for traffic in both directions between 127 and 128 routes, "because the police are investigating a serious collision."
The officers on the scene confirmed that the pedestrian had been killed. Further details of the incident were not disclosed.
Shortly after 9 am There were several police vehicles on the scene. Officers could be seen gathered around a dark-colored car with damage on the front driver's side.
The road was supposed to be closed for several hours at night.
Police have said that more information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
