If there's something we can recognize, Fallout 76 is that it's really the way I imagined the world would be after the nuclear crisis: it's ugly, it's devastating, dangerous, and above all, very boring.
The new game of the series surprised fans when this year was announced during this year's E3 not only because of the surprise that it has a new Fallout just for this year but also because it would be a 100% online experience.
As a result of fashion games, Fallout 76 is built to enjoy a group of friends. In fact, you must be connected to the Internet continuously to enjoy it. The promising idea at the beginning, but the one that is rapidly falling apart when we know it was done in the worst possible ways.
The premise of Fallout 76 shows us the opening of the vault 76, one of the first to open after the nuclear crisis that forced the world to hide underground. This makes the game the first in terms of chronology and thus thematically the most interesting of history.
This is because there is no kind of developed society in the world of Fallout 76, unlike the others. The enormous map of West Virginia is home to animals, robots, mutants and many, but many computers.
Through these computers you can learn the history of the game through the sounds and texts you will need to read, and this is probably the most boring implementation possible for a game that has always been rich in the social relationships that protagonists can create with this hostile world.
And yes, we all know that the realization of immersive stories in online games is complicated, but computer realization is perhaps the weakest way to do it, and it is more a sacrifice than an opportunity. To sacrifice what, in my opinion, has always been a real grace to play Fallout: Discover a new world and develop your character immersed in it.
But when you take the story, people, characters and moral decisions and everything becomes more an activity than a decision, the game loses all its grace and the meaning it once had.
And everything is well documented by atomic bombs. In Fallout 76, players can find pieces of nuclear code that can be used to run a nuclear bomb on any area of the map, wherever your enemies and some other online players are leaving chaos, changing the map, and generating the radiation field. This eventually becomes a kind of nuclear war that confuses 24 players who can be inside each server at the same time.
A complete counterpart to one of the first Fallout 3 missions, where we know the city of Megaton, which was created around an active nuclear bomb. One of your first missions has to do with the ability to: activate or deactivate the bomb and cause lasting consequences in your action.
The world of Fallout 76 is a world without many consequences, without many steps and fun depending on your group of friends rather than on the activities and the game that the game suggests. And to be honest, playing with clay is fun if you do it with your friends.
There are, however, several things that the game plays in an interesting way, such as a survival system that forces you to measure your hunger, thirst and radiation along with ammunition, so you have companions who can help you with Siphon Clean Water serving a lot.
And the C.A.M.P. system, which allows you to build strength and take it anywhere, is very useful for you to look after the search for materials rather than finding specific pages to use them. But beyond that, the game as a shooter is average and feels more like an overrated way than adventure with personality, how the series has existed.
The worst of all is that how it happened to No Man's Sky in terms of talking about online products can not be so categorical because patches, new seasons and improvements over time can effectively radically change the way to enjoy this type of game. But in its current state Fallout 76 does not deserve your attention because there are many games that do the same and do better.
