Dr. Moez Al-Shahdi, Managing Director of the Egyptian Food Bank and al-Khair Bank, attended a meeting organized by the League of Arab States for a subcommittee to eliminate hunger in the Arab region.
Speaking during the meeting, Al-Shahdi pointed out the role of the Egyptian Food Bank and its food leadership in order to become a model for the establishment of food banks in the world.
He pointed out that the Egyptian Food Bank is working to eliminate the hunger problem through various development, awareness and nutrition programs and has pointed out that the Bank is working on a scientific methodology to reach millions of well-deserved citizens. They cannot work, such as the elderly, pregnant women, families with chronic illnesses or disabilities, and orphans who receive monthly and seasonal feeding programs, school feeding, fasting and sacrificial food.
He added that the second category is entitled to work and has been given programs for education, training, rehabilitation and small projects to be able to integrate into the labor market and get a day without the need for assistance.
He praised the role of the Egyptian Food Bank in developing and organizing the random distribution of food through a complete and detailed database through which the numbers, names and locations of the recipients studied are monitored in all governorates, contributing to the organization of randomness and duplication in geographical and temporal distribution.
Al-Shahdi stressed the need to increase investment to ensure continuity, Egyptian Food Bank owns a factory for packaging, dairy farms, fattening, transportation and more.
He added that the Egyptian Food Bank has developed a professional operating manual that will be used in hotels and restaurants in conjunction with hotel equipment, the guide has been registered as an intellectual property in the name of the Egyptian Food Bank and exported to the world, except for the introduction of a third year lesson.
He also stressed the beliefs of the Egyptian Food Bank that it is important to waste food and raise awareness and spread the culture of food waste and how to use it to eliminate hunger.
