The Turkish State Aid Agency donated 80,000 blankets to internally displaced persons in the eastern city of Ethiopia, Jijiga, the capital of the Somali regional state.

Turkish Ambassador to Ethiopia Fatih Ulusoy, Turkish Co-operation and Co-ordination Agency (TIKA) Co-ordinator Mehmet Ali Yetis, and Ad-Farh Somali Regional State Deputy Speaker attended a ceremonial distribution of assistance that took place in the afternoon.
Ambassador Ulusoy said his government would continue to support development needs in the region.
The vice-president of the region said that stability in the region had returned. "We need Turkish investors," he said.
The TIKA Coordinator stated that the gift was just the beginning of sustained support.
"We will continue to support the people and the region." The blankets are produced by the Turkish textile company ETUR Textile PLC, based in Ethiopia, in Adam, "he said.
