Elsenbrücke in Berlin-Treptow can no longer be rescued – both halves must be destroyed. This was said in the Senate by Senator Regine Günther (Party, for Green). This is the result of a week's test. So far, it was only the eastern part of the bridge that runs through Spree. During the summer, routine cracks were in the routine tests. The road was blocked, the traffic avoided – which led to great obstacles.
But the western part is also broken, it is the same. The bridge dates back to the 1960s. Firstly, the already closed Eastern half should be abolished. A provisional bridge will be built until 2021. Then the western half was demolished and a new (half) bridge was built. In the final step, the provisional bridge is demolished and the last eastern half built.
Everything should be completed by 2028 according to gross transport management planning. Of course, it means that the A100 will end up in a traffic jam in front of Elsenbrücke when it opens in 2022/2023.
