Amazon, together with the second generation of Echo Plus, starts the Echo Sub subwoofer. The speakers together form a strong team that can also be a replacement for Sonos One.
Intelligent Amazon speakers were convincing from the beginning by the relatively talented Alex assistant, but their sound was, at best, average. Sonos One proves that things are much better, even showing the teeth of Apple Homepod in the test. But there's also an Amazon alternative that offers great sound: Echo Plus 2 combined with Echo Sub.
Animals with wide chest
The new Echo Plus itself sounds much better than its predecessor. It is louder and comes with a 20-millimeter high-volume speaker and a 76-millimeter bass speaker that are quite clear and beautiful. Also on bass goes much harder to the point as the first Echo Plus, the real depth, but it also offers new ones. It is not surprising in its compact size, it is surprising that a small, small thing about 15 centimeters long has such a wide chest.
This is where the Echo Sub comes into play, which not only complements the Echo Plus 2 perfectly. The subwoofer has a 15 centimeter downward loudspeaker that powers 100 W in depth. The Alexa app Plus and Sub are quickly connected and the difference is huge. The room is full of powerful, but not exaggerated bass, and the sound is much richer than without the subwoofer.
"Alex, less bass!"
In order for the speaker team to balance, the low frequencies are reduced after joining the subwoofer in Echo Plus 2. However, the sub is a bit too strong to the point, but that's no problem. Because Alexy can simply say he should cut bass. Of course, on the contrary, it works. In addition, you can find an equalizer in the Alex app that manually adjusts the height, middle and minimum height.
Duo can easily record with Sonos One. In the middle and clarity it can not keep. But bass has more guts and voice control is much better in Amazon's doubling: commands are still understood in loud music and there are other features like telephony or integrated Zigbee Bridge for direct control of intelligent home appliances.
Sonos One cheaper
Again, the Sonos One costs you at around 220 euros. Echo Plus 2 alone costs 150 euros, along with Echo Sub you have to discard 280 euros. Sub can also be combined with two Echo Plus 2 and 2.1 systems. The total price is 480 Euros. Sonos double is available at 430 euros.
Overall, Echo Plus 2 with Echo Sub is a great choice for users who want to enjoy all the benefits of Alex but also want a very nice sound with powerful bass. If it's all about the sound, you're better, despite the smaller depths of Sonos One. Additionally, you have access to more streaming services on this system.
