The tunnel between the southern and western railway stations, the first rhythm of the metro 5, the connection of the metro 2 with the Gödöllő HÉV, the complete exchange of the HÉV fleet and the coverage of the western routes – the government decided to implement this transport development on Saturday according to the published decision.

Firstly, Csepel and Ráckeve HÉV, which will be built for the highway, would be taken underground to Kálvin tér – this is the first rhythm of the 5 meter line – often mentioned, but so far nothing has been done, but in the current governmental decision. A feasibility study on the long-term connection between the two HÉV and Szentendre HÉV lines is also feasible – the second level of the well-known 5th metro.

The decision would also bring underground passenger trains between Kunszentmiklós-Tass-Kőbánya-Kispest and incorporate it into subway 5. It also states that the HÉV section between Békásmegyer and Szentendre is waiting for extensive renovation.

They also propose a "rapid development" on the Gödöllő and Csömör HÉV routes, also recommending a connection with Örs, also with the long-awaited line 2, and calling for the creation of a new transmission link in Törökőr with the 100a railroad and Rákosfalva with a crossroads. metro Budapest XVII. in the district of Rákoskeresztúr.

This is what the "complete exchange of vehicles" contributes to the HÉV line, they write. The average age of 98 HVVs today is 42 years.

The Green Way to the Southwest Tunnel

In another decision, the government agrees to "rebuild a railway station system that is not good for Budapest", that is to say the removal of major railway stations, and therefore proposes the construction of a railway tunnel to be built between the Southern and Western Railway Station and the Central Station Nyugati pályaudvar shaping.

The interconnections of Körvasut connected to the railway bridge with the southern connection with new stops have been proposed to fit into the concept of the new railway network in Budapest and the evolutionary concept of the changing role of Keleti railway station.

The first phase of both programs will be implemented within the current financial framework of the Integrated Operational Program of the European Union for Transport and the maximum grant for public procurement has been set at 150 million forints. The program will also be included as a priority for transport investments planned for the European Union programming period 2021-2027.

All this suggests that in the current EU financial cycle, Budapest may be the center of development in the future.
