Harry Arter gives a message to Declan Rice before calling Ireland-England

Harry Arter said that along with the Irish Republic, Declan Rice is supporting him when he decides between his international future in Ireland or England.

Rice, 19, described the decision as "one of the hardest things to do" this week.

London Arter as Rice played at Juvenile level for Ireland before making her debut in 2015.

"The manager gave him full respect for leaving the team, supporting him all the way, and I know we're doing the same thing as a team," Arter said.

"Declan is a young boy, he is a top player, someone who, in my opinion, is as tall as he is, his attitude and work ethic are unbelievable." You see so many young players who have all the skills today, but probably not. Be aware of what you need to get to the top.

"Declan looks like a very old school in his beliefs and upbringing. If he wins England, it will be a great loss to us, but that's what's for us, but as I say, it's difficult for players to have two countries , have strong feelings for.

"As I say, I know it's a group, we've been supporting him and supporting him as a friend."

Arter also revealed that he feels he has not brought his club into the international scene – something he wants to turn to.

"I just want to try to start playing when I choose it, which is probably my biggest disappointment all the time with Ireland. I do not feel I have played anywhere else than I could.

"There is no justification really, I have to take responsibility for not giving up football on the international stage.

"I've made a massive change in my life with my transfer to Cardiff, I do not want to get into the situation too much, I said what I meant to say, at that time I felt it was best to decide for myself and for the team."
