The specialist explains how to cough and get rid of the sore throat

Such an unpleasant cough and sore throat, which many of us face in autumn and winter, can often prove to be something that is not easy to deal with. What are the main causes of the sore throat and coughing and how to deal with them, explains Zanda Ozoliņa, Pharmacy of Ben Pharmacy.

Pharmacists suggest that the most common up to 90 percent of cases are the cause of neck pain. It is important to understand the cause of the problem in order to be able to fight effectively. Only then can we choose treatment and recommended medication. However, it is best to prevent inflammation and disease by strengthening immunity.

Viruses and infections

Among the viruses that cause bleeding are cold, flu, mononucleosis, measles, chicken, or epidemic parotid. Also, bacterial infections, the most common group of streptococcal bacteria, can cause sore throat. Bacterial infections are more common in children in 40% of cases. Immune reactions to an allergen, such as pollen, can also cause symptoms such as nasal congestion, sneezing and inflammation of the throat. Dry air, smoking and other irritants can also cause inflammation of the mouth and throat.

How to avoid it

To prevent neck pain, as one of the first agents, pharmacists mention immunity by feeding on natural foods such as ginger or garlic. Vitamin C should be purchased in a convenient pharmacy and Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea), which contain nutritional supplements, will strengthen the immune system of adults. On the other hand, it is recommended that small children use probiotics or immunomodulators such as peanut extract containing nutritional supplements. Of course, do not forget to use our "sun" vitamin or vitamin D. Personal hygiene also reduces the spread of the virus, which causes a high risk of morbidity.

Immunity is important

With our age, our immunity becomes weaker and therefore its strength determines whether we get worse, and if the virus is "crippled" behind our feet, the indicator is the length of our illness. Immunity is affected by several factors, but major pharmacists report stress, insomnia, malnutrition and lack of physical activity. In accordance with a healthy and active lifestyle, we can avoid illness.

When tea alone is not enough

In most cases, symptoms such as neck pain, trembling, dry cough, and slightly elevated temperatures decrease after 7 to 10 days. The combination of anti-inflammatory drugs can be used to alleviate the disease, but this is not desirable. It is best to stay at home if you happen to be sick – relax, drink plenty of fluid – both water and warm tea with ginger and honey, eat healthy food, inhale with medicinal herbs such as chamomile and peppermint, rinse your throat with warm salt water. It is not advisable to drink hot and carbonated beverages because these necks can irritate even more.

However, if the throat hurts for a long time, the nose is blocked and there is pain in the nasal cavities, and if the cough is longer than three weeks and the body temperature is increased for a long time, it is advisable to contact a specialist who will give you the appropriate treatment.

Carefully with antibiotics

Until the doctor discovers the cause of a sore throat or cough, it is not advisable to use antibiotics because it will not work in case of a disease caused by this virus, only a further worsening of the disease will result in the destruction of our immune protectors or positive germs present in the gastrointestinal tract. The use of hot and carbonated beverages is also not recommended. Patients who are overheated should not be unnecessarily covered with blankets, on the contrary, let cool. As an additional precaution, damp tissue may be applied to the forehead. For small patients, do not use aspirin due to a possible Ray's syndrome to lower the temperature.

How to fight dry and damp coughing

Upon onset of a virus-induced disease, the cough is often dry and itchy. Afterwards, it is recommended to use cough or cough softening medication. Most often they contain Icelandic cucumbers or pine extracts that soothe and hydrate the cough. When a large amount of fluids are used, and taking into account the dosing interval and drug administration, the cough is already productive. For these symptoms, it is recommended to use an expectorant, such as ivy or syrup, or, if it is a more pronounced, chemical cure. Almost all of these products should be taken with food and the last daily dose should be at least three hours before bedtime. Also, remember that you should drink plenty of fluid.

However, if the cough is too tired or too late, you should definitely contact a specialist who will give you the necessary treatment.

What is good for parents may not be suitable for children

Although some diseases are predominantly in adults and children, the pattern of many respiratory illnesses in children apparently differs in adults from children, such as cold-related virus, children may develop severe respiratory diseases such as bronchitis. In the case of acute coughing, parents should use a certain medication, whether prescribed by a pharmacist or prescribed by physicians, to monitor the dynamics of dry coughing soaked unless this dynamics is observed, the drug should be changed. In the case of dry, peptic ulcer, antihistamines may be added to anti-inflammatory drugs that reduce irritation. You have to worry about a productive cough because it often happens that little patients do not have to wake up, so when you get into the sand, the pillow does not fit almost horizontally but a little free.

It should always be remembered that we, adults, can describe symptoms and cough, but small patients can not have to listen to the cough in a child and should consult a specialist about the most appropriate treatment.
