Since last March, deposits in banorte accounts from Oxxo boxes have been suspended and companies are currently negotiating a possible renewal, said CEO Grupo Financiero Banorte, Marcos Ramírez.
In presenting his report for the first quarter, Ramírez ruled out that the termination of the agreement would affect the bank's operations.
"These are annual programs that can be renewed or not, this time we are dealing with them, but meanwhile they are not renewing, here is the balance between how much branch they want to absorb and how much we need correspondents," he said. guideline.
With this change, Banorte is left to more than 9,700 banking correspondents, where clients can perform basic operations such as deposit accounts, credit cards, and credits.
"The correspondent's agreement is like marriage and only when they want to be married, but with escape clauses. They review and don't suit us every year. That doesn't mean we won't announce them tomorrow that we're back with them." "he said."

In the case of consumer loans, Banorte reported a total of 222 billion pesos in its portfolio in 2002, a 10% increase over the same period a year earlier.
Regarding the removal of the Bancomer brand by BBVA, Ramirez stressed that he was welcomed for this competition and that Banorte remained as a Mexican group, ranked second among the financial groups operating in Mexico.
"There are many clients who like Mexicanism and we are Mexicans, we will be here, we want to be a strong Mexican bank and that is our slogan and it will continue," he said.
