As far as music collections are concerned, they rose by 567%, which contributed Morocco to collections in Africa to 7.8%, says CISAC, and notes that African companies have raised 75.7 million euros by 15.7% in 2017.

On a worldwide basis, the rights acquired for the creators of all repertoires, namely music, audiovisual, visual arts, live performances and literature, reached a record 9.6 billion euros in 2017, an increase of 6.2% over the previous year.

Revenue from digital use of works has been recorded for the first time in excess of the billions of euros and shows an increase of 24.0%, the same source states, and notes that these revenues almost tripled (+ 166%) over the 5 years "due to the increase in streaming the recent success of video streaming. As for the musical repertoire, his collections reached 8.3 billion euros (+ 6.0%), with digital revenues for the first time reaching billions of euros.

Despite the increase in digital revenues in all directories, which reached 1.27 billion euros, this sector still produces much lower amounts than television and radio broadcasts and direct (live) and atmospheric categories.

In addition, only 13% of the creators' revenue comes from digital (compared to 11% in 2016), which "reflects an incredible gap between the amount of content available on the internet and the amounts that are returned to the creators," the Confederation says.

For the fifth consecutive year, creators' revenues have grown in all repertoires, with strong revenue growth from television and radio stations suggesting that the rise in digital technology is currently not worsening traditional revenue streams.
