Hardly a break for healthcare workers as a result of working pressure



The workload in nursing and nursing homes and home care is so great that half of healthcare workers in the industry can not take a break for tea or coffee. In addition, they do overtime in their own time overtime without paying for it.

These conclusions are drawn by FNV Zorg & Welzijn. They investigated the working pressure in this sector by asking more than 2,000 employees about their experience and finding out if the collective agreement agreements are being followed in the shop.

Carers are entitled to legal breaks after 5.5 hours. FNV concludes that at this point the pause can not be interrupted. 87% of respondents have problems with this problem. And if there are any breaks, they often do not pay or are not fully paid as it was recorded.

Not only the breaks but also the travel rewards policy is criticized by the FNV. They have received many complaints about travel time from a client to a client who is in home care or community care. This travel time often encounters incompletely or at least on their payroll at many homeworkers while they are entitled to it. According to the trade union, employers would deliberately not comply with the agreements.

ActiZ, a sectoral association of healthcare organizations, responds to the importance of considering compliance with the collective agreement in this sector, not being recognized in the FNV conclusions.
