The first Ford Focus Active arrives in the showrooms in 2019, giving the blue oval brand to the Subaru XV in the form of a compact hatchback with a higher horse.
Focus Focus will be offered as the only option in the Focus 2019 series, which is at the center of the $ 29,990 price range plus the cost of driving on the road.
According to Ford, the German Focus Active "combines with a robust style inspired by SUV and Ford's driving dynamics" and thanks to increased cushioning it offers 34mm headlamps. Thanks to its rough and ready look, there are front and rear bumpers, a unique front bumper with LED adaptive cornering fog lights, hood grille and LED daytime running lights.
There are black extensions of the wheel extensions and a rear pair of chrome exhausts. Standard are 17-inch wheels and halogen lights, but Focus Active is optional with tinted rear glass, 18-inch alloys and LED headlamps with auto-dimming lights. It costs $ 1,800.
The cabin includes model equipment with new used materials, including soft material that ends on knee pads to prevent bruising if it gets worse. Other inclusions consist of active sheets and blue stitching of seats, steering wheel, dashboard and door. The wheel and wheel are decorated with leather, plus paddle shift and dual zone climate control.
There is an 8.0-inch touchscreen media system with Ford Sync 3, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, Bluetooth audio streaming and built-in sat nav. Charging a wireless phone (Qi standard) is also available.
Just like other standard Focus series, it is powered by a four-liter turbocharger with a capacity of 1.5 liters and a power of 134 kW and 240 Nm of torque and uses an eight-speed automatic transmission. And yes, it's the front-wheel drive – and so it's a competitor only for the look of the XV.
The fuel consumption is 6.4 liters per 100 kilometers and the Focus has a standard stop and engine start.
Focus Active gets a few other modes of driving – Sliding (for greater traction on snow and ice) and Trail (for sand and dust dirt). Other driving modes include Normal, Eco and Sport mode.
Safety features include automatic emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian and bicycle detection, lane assistance and lane departure warning and a standard reverse camera. While the active vehicle was not tested for impact, Euro NCAP has standardized the maximum five-star rating in 2018 by default.
An optional safety kit is available for the active model, consisting of an adaptive cruise control with stop and stop, blind spot monitoring, rear crossover warning and rear automatic braking. This package adds $ 1250.
As with other Ford models, the Focus is sold with a five-year / unlimited mileage warranty plan and is backed by a lifelong service plan.
