When he finished, the luxed-up SUV will cost $ 200,000.
Mercedes-Maybach takes a big step. Literally. For the second time (after last year's G 650 Landaulet), posh Benz will build the SUV sub-brand. The so-called Mercedes-Maybach GLS will cost $ 200,000, comes from the Mercedes-Benz manufacturing plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and is expected to leave the production line next year. But before it does, the big Benz shows up on the video.
The new spy video shows Mercedes-Maybach GLS (camouflaged) testing on public roads near Mercedes-Benz headquarters in Germany. At first glance, the luxed-up GLS does not wander far from its base three-row counterpart design wise – shares a lot of the same body panels, cues to the face and overall shape. But look closer and you will find some details to help distinguish the Maybach model.
The wheels are completely different, for one. It is true that the five-spoke rims attached here could be used for the prototype, but we know that the Maybach model will get a new set of shoes over standard GLS. This prototype also looks longer than the basic GLS. GLS by 2020 extends to 205.2 inches, giving it three inches above the outgoing model. Maybe Maybach's version will be slightly longer.
We know that Maybach's GLS could also get a new numerical naming system. Mercedes-Benz filed three GLS trademarks: 600, 680 and S680. Some of these numbers are already used by S-Class abroad, but we expect them to be available at Maybach GLS worldwide.
Mercedes-Maybach GLS is on sale in 2020. When complete, it will be the most expensive car built in the United States to beat the current frontman – Acura NSX – by more than $ 40,000 (assuming the price is $ 200,000) . The GLS 63 also connects to the assembly.
