Firefighters have rescued horses in the aqueduct in Arcos de Valdevez: "Life in a firefighter is not easy"

The Arcos de Valdevez Chamber has approved a budget of nearly 28 million euros plus 20 million for 2019 for 2019, Lusitania Mayor Lus said today.

João Manuel Esteves said that the plan, approved by the majority of the PSD (six elements), is based on funding from community funds and said the document "favors people, families and business investment."

The Arcos de Valdevez budget and activity budget of € 27,863,300 was approved on Friday with a vote against the only opposition element in the executive board of the PS, Dora Brandão.

João Manuel Esteves explained that "Human resource skills will be a great issue for the city's executive body in 2019, strengthening the school for social events, providing scholarships and retraining school education."

The Social Democrat minister said the document also provides "support for the relocation of the region, providing better solutions for young people to gain land at attractive prices and build their homes or rent."

With regard to family support, the mayor said that "tax cuts and municipal taxes and investments in the quality of life of people were planned, either through public space rehabilitation or services such as water supply and basic hygiene."

João Manuel Esteves also stressed "a strong commitment to expanding business parks and promoting tourism in the region."

"Arcos de Valdevez's development strategy is in line with the European Union and Portugal 2020. We want a more innovative, more sustainable, closer, inclusive and interconnected community," he said.

Lusa contacted the city council, Dora Brandão, lamenting that "the Social Democratic majority executive has once again released the document" late and incomplete, without political guidance, with only a statement of revenue and expenditure. "

According to the Alderwoman, the document was delivered "e-mail at the end of the day", the day before the debate, "when the statutory minimum time is 48 hours."

Dora Brandão believed that the revenue in the document "is not strict because it considers the values of municipal taxes, IMI and IMT, which have not yet been considered".

He also condemned the "allocation of funds to parish councils" and stated that "the projected protocols have the same value, € 30,000, for all parishes regardless of territory, population and property of each."

"This disability should be based on population criteria because Arcos de Valdevez is one of the municipalities of the Viana do Castelo district, which has lost more people in recent years," he said, arguing that the document "does not increase family funding".
