Live Electric Tours, Incubated by Startups Factory, was recognized Wednesday for the best start in Europe in the Tourism category at the startup of StartUp Europe Awards during the Startup Europe 2018 Conference held in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The award, recognized by the Portuguese Live Electric Tours as the best European start in the field of tourism in the StartUp Europe Awards, was presented by European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Mariya Gabriel in the presence of Bulgarian Prime Minister Bojko Borissov among others.
In an interview with Startups Factory, Djalmo Gomes, CEO of Live Electric Tours, says the award is "recognition" and "international product validation," making it "visible" to the company as a "brand." Djalmo adds that they do not have a well-known brand at international level, and they hope that this will bring them "visibility". At the same time "it also acts as a team motivation," he says.
Asked why Live Electric Tours was selected as one of the best winners of the StartUp Europe Awards, Djalmo says his project "is that everything the jury has looked for: mobility, innovation, sustainability, technology and scalability." the ten projects that were in the competition were the only ones who met these conditions, "he adds.
For the CEO of Live Electric Tours, Explorers was a Startup Factory acceleration program launched by Startups Factory and Turismo de Portugal "was important because it was the first time we could verify the product." "In these programs, we were able to contact other agencies, tourism or not, and share experience," concluded Djalmo.
Live Electric Tours is a startup that offers a 100% electric experience for tourists in the city of Lisbon. Vehicles are equipped with GPS Audio Guide, Wi-Fi, internet hotspot and Facebook Live to improve the experience of tourists in Lisbon and make it easier to share with family and friends through social networks.
The European Commission Commissioner for Digital Economy and Mariya Gabriel chaired the StartUp Europe Awards on 15 November, including Portugal's startup president and European business angel Simon Schaefer.
StartUp Europe Awards is an initiative supported by the European Commission and the Finn Foundation in cooperation with Startup Europe and is seeking to reward the 18 most successful startups in 16 European countries.
