The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Association for Judicial Training (CFJ) in Senegal have set up continuous training for International Humanitarian Law Practitioners (IHL) for 15 judges from the 5 Senegalese Courts of Appeal, ICRC said on Monday.

According to the ICRC Regional Delegate in Dakar, Charles Sanchen quoted in the Communiqué, the aim of this ongoing training is to strengthen MHP's basic knowledge of judges about better response to MHP offenses. The first seminar of this three-year training will take place from 12 to 14 November 2018 in Somone (west).

"Criminal suppression of serious violations of international humanitarian law is an essential element in ensuring its respect," he said, stressing at the same time that the role of national courts and Senegalese judges in the implementation of MHP is crucial. ,
