Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, was accompanied by Spanish Queen Letizia Ortiz on Wednesday 28 November to visit the Royal Theater in Madrid, located in the heart of the Spanish capital.

Upon their arrival, Ms. Peng Liyuan and the Queen of Spain Leitizia were taken on the steps of the Royal Theater by José Guirao, Minister of Culture and Sport of Spain, the Director General of the Royal Theater Foundation in Madrid and the General Director of the Theater. At the entrance to the hall, Peng Liyuan learned about the culture and history of the theater, its architectural style and its launch. It was before the shooting with the Queen of Spain and several theater directors. After that, Peng Liyuan attended the "Turandot" concert for a while and visited theater cassettes and various performance halls of various styles. Visiting Queen Leitizie also listened to some of the classical songs introduced by the main actors of the opera "Turandot" followed by exchanges with these actors. Continuing their visit, Ms. Peng and the Queen of Spain Leitizia then went to the central scene, a wonderful place with imperial characteristics. They got a family photo on the spot with the whole team of "Turandot". Meanwhile, the first Chinese lady wished them great success in their first performance.

According to Peng Liyuan, art, the common language of all people, has no boundaries. China and Spain are in the wake of big artistic countries. The artists of these two countries are inspired and appreciated. In conjunction with healthy co-operation, the Royal Theater in Madrid and the Grand National Theater in China are leading platforms that show artists' talents. We must continue to promote exchanges in the field of art and promote understanding and friendship between the two nations.

The company was founded in 1818. The Royal Theater in Madrid, which is famous as the first art palace in Spain, has 200 years of history. The theater in 2016 joined forces with the Alliance of International Theaters Silk Road.
