The chairwoman of the Czech Diabetological Society, Katarina Rašlova, has revealed how we can prevent diabetes.
To prevent type 2 diabetes, regular exercise and healthy eating are the most important thing, Rašlová said that exercise or any regular exercise with greater energy delivery is the basis for future health.
In diabetes prevention, according to a study by experts in the Diabetes Prevention Program in 2002, physical activity has a greater effect than medication. Rašlová added that this also applies to other health problems. "I started walking everyday six months ago, I canceled the habit of sitting and working after coming home, either postponing it the next day or the time when I came back from a five-kilometer fast walk, then I could plant both drugs, which I took for high blood pressure, "said SDS Chair. Regular movement in the brain also stimulates the production of hormones of bliss – endorphins.
Needless to forget nutrition. "Every meal should be balanced with one portion of fruit or vegetables. Fruits and vegetables contain fiber, vitamins and particles that favorably affect the processes in the human organism," says Rašlová.
On the contrary, improper diet and excessive consumption of low-fiber high-energy foods cause overweight and obesity. "This is the most important factor in the development of diabetes," SDS Vice-President Zbynek Schroner said.
Type 2 diabetes mellitus represents over 90 percent of diabetes cases in the world, which, according to experts, mainly affects lifestyle and environment. It was once spoken of as old-fashioned diabetes, but it is already present in children and youth.
