NSi: The referendum on migration would only be very expensive polls

At a regular meeting, MEPs discussed the proposal for a referendum on migration submitted by SDS and CIS. Oppositions and coalitions, on the contrary, are expected in completely opposite positions.

This is a referendum on the United Nations Global Compact on Migration, which countries, including Slovenia, joined in December in Marrakesh. The question of the referendum, as proposed by the SDS and the CIS, reads as follows: "Are you in favor of Slovenia joining the Global Agreement on Safe, Regulated and Legal Migration, which equates to legal and illegal migration?"

In opposition, the debate highlighted in particular that migration management decisions should be left to people. On the other hand, the MPs consider the referendum to be unjustified.

Voting on the referendum proposal will be on Thursday. According to today's views of parliamentary groups, the proposal promises a rejection. The proposal also rejected the JRC.

Grims: The treaty was adopted unconstitutional

According to the SDS, the agreement was reached Branko Grims in a way that casts doubt on its validity. The confirmation was decided by the previous government Mira Cerar, who was then retired and had the right to decide only on topical issues that are necessary, but not for as long as migration, the SDS says.

In addition, according to the Foreign Affairs Act, the National Assembly should be informed, but it was not, he stressed."If an act is taken manifestly wrong, unconstitutional and unlawful, it can not be enforced,"he said.

NSi: Referendum would be an expensive vote on the vote

This was also highlighted in the opposition party's opposition party Jožef Horvat, who did not support the referendum proposal because it is "the authorities have very clearly stated that they will not respect the will of the people". The NSI explained that the referendum would be supported if governmental parties undertook to respect the outcome of the referendum because they did not, but they believe it would be a very polite opinion poll.

Opposition to the proposal to call a referendum on migration was expressed in the coalition parties and Levice

The SAB is of the opinion that the referendum referendum has no legal basis because the National Assembly may only call for a referendum on matters within its competence, while the migration agreement falls within the competence of the government and not the parliament.

DeSUS attaches itself to this opinion and adds that the referendum will serve no one but the gathering of the petitioners' political points.

Milan Brglez from SD, the opposition of his deputy explained, among other things, that it is unacceptable for a policy of his particular negotiation or inaction in the field of migration to be viewed as justification for the decisions and emotions of the people.

The government is also rejecting the referendum that stressed in December that the adoption of international instruments, such as the global agreement, bears the government, not the parliament. Foreign minister Miro Cerarin the middle of the month in the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy, the debate on this proposal was considered obsolete.

The Legislative and Legal Service has also explained that the adoption of the act itself is not within the competence of the National Assembly, but the content of this agreement could be the subject of a hearing in the National Assembly. In addition, the request for a referendum in such a form can not be the subject of a referendum request, because it casts doubt on it and is unclear.
