Manufacturer of South Korean smartphones Samsung introduced a smartphone prototype, which opened a few days ago as a book at a conference on development in San Francisco. Analysts, however, expected the presentation of a very direct smartphone, but would expect only the technology on which it was based.
On the front of Samsung's prototype over 5,000 software and partner developers, there is a relatively small 11.6 centimeters screen while the main display in the developed state is 18.5 centimeters.
In folded state, the device may be used as a regular smartphone. When the user is opened, the application that is being used moves to a substantially larger screen that Samsung calls Infinity Flex. Of course, you can see much more information and content on this screen than on smaller ones. This is useful not only for photos, videos and games, for example. also for news apps that can display far more messages.
Even better: as they say Samsun's reports, up to three applications can be used at the same time without being opaque. For a more comfortable use, a new One UI design should be available. In addition, Google announced that future versions of the operating system will support folding phones as well.
How to see a new smartphone is not yet known. At the development conference, Samsung introduced the prototype, so it was impossible to see anything but a screen. Also, it is not known when a new smartphone should enter the market.
Start sales should not be too far. Samsung plans to launch "next few months" with mass production of Infinity Flex. Analysts are therefore expecting Samsung's first handsfree smartphone to be expected in 2019.
As the next generation of Infinity Flex is a new generation, Samsung invited all those involved in the development conference to participate. If their applications are inappropriate, the folding phone will also be a blank device without real content.
