These are the 13 finalists of the Swiss Automobile of 2021

Audi A3

The most important Audi model comes in the fourth edition. The larger grid and wider shoulder lines make it more massive. Inside are digital tools, nets and seat covers made from recycled PET bottles. The drive is provided by petrol and diesel engines with an output of 150 hp, with the S3 with an output of 310 hp. Other versions will follow, such as the mild hybrid. Price: from 36,400 francs.

Cupra Formentor

The Formentor of the Spanish sports subsidiary Seat Cupra is the first independent model of an ever-young brand – not just “just” another, stronger derivative of Satt. It starts with a 310 hp petrol engine with 4×4 drive, soon to be followed by a plug-in hybrid version with a system power of 245 hp and a range of 50 kilometers. Price: from 50,000 francs.

Kia e-Niro

The Korean compact SUV Niro is becoming more and more versatile. After two petrol hybrids, there is now a purely electric version with two power levels. With a smaller 39.2 kWh battery and an output of 100 kW (136 hp), it has a range of 289 kilometers. The more powerful version with an output of 150 kW (204 hp) can handle even 455 kilometers. Price: from 43,900 francs.

Land Rover Defender

The terrain icon is back. A stylish, angular new edition has started this year. And it will remain a real off-road with 4×4 drive and off-road reduction. Diesel and petrol engines with an output of 200 to 400 hp are available. There is also a shorter three-door body (price: from 57,000 francs) or a longer five-door body (price: from 64,000 francs).

Mazda MX-30

The Japanese are skipping the hybrid intermediate step in electrification and launching a purely electric car. The MX-30 is an elegant SUV with doors that open in opposite directions. The interior has environmentally friendly surfaces made of cork and recycled PET. Its electric motor has an output of 107 kW (145 hp) and the battery offers a range of 200 to 260 kilometers. Price: from 36,990 francs.

Mercedes cap

Compact outside, spacious inside: this is Mercedes’ new GLB. The family SUV is only slightly smaller than the GLC and optionally offers seven seats. Typically in a modern SUV, it is only available with 4×4 drive on request, but automatic transmission is standard. The drive is provided by petrol and diesel engines with an output from 116 to 306 hp. A plug-in hybrid version will follow later. Price: from 45,500 francs.

Opel Corsa-e

The flash of the Opel logo fits here. The sixth edition of the Corsa is also available with an electric drive. The difference can hardly be seen, but it can be heard. The 100 kW (136 hp) electric motor runs quietly. The 50 kWh battery is located in the chassis and provides a range of 337 kilometers. There is also a Matrix LED light, which is still rare in small cars. Price: from 35,540 francs.

Polestar 2

The second model of the new electric brand Volvo is a crossover sedan and a clean Stromer. Two electric motors provide 300 kW (408 hp) and 660 Nm for all four wheels. In 4.2 seconds it goes to 100 km / h and further up to 205 km / h. The 78 kWh battery allows a range of 470 kilometers. Polestar uses Android as a multimedia system from Google. Price: from 57,900 francs.

Renault Captur E-Tech

The French are now also electrifying their bestseller Captur. The popular city SUV is now also available as a plug-in hybrid version of E-Tech. It always starts electrically and with 9.8 kWh batteries it can travel up to 65 kilometers purely electrically. The hybrid drive develops 160 hp and 205 Nm. In hybrid mode, the Captur E-Tech is enough with 1.7 liters. Price: from 38,100 francs.

Skoda Octavia Combi

The Czech station wagon is unobtrusively successful and becomes the best-selling car in Switzerland. To keep it that way, the fourth edition inside will be more elegant and digital. There is also a wide range of propulsion systems: petrol, diesel, hybrid and plug-in hybrids, as well as natural gas with an output of 110 to 245 k in the most sporty RS model. Only clean electricity is missing (still). Price: from 28 160 CHF.

Toyota Yaris

The new Toyota Yaris not only looks great, but also drives. It is also available as a petrol engine with an output from 72 to 125 hp. The most popular in our country, however, is the hybrid variant, in which a 1.5-liter petrol engine and electric motor produce 116 hp. It runs at 100 km / h in 9.7 seconds and up to 175 km / h. Prices: from 17,900 (petrol) or 23,900 francs (hybrid).

VW Golf

It wants to be the measure of all things in a compact class. With a slightly sharpened appearance, the eighth generation Golf offers a completely new digital cockpit. The range of models, including the station wagon and Alltrack with 4×4 drive, remains as large as before. This also applies to different disks. Gasoline, diesel, mild and plug-in hybrids are available. Price: from 22,900 francs.

VW ID.3

It is to become the new Volksstromer and establishes a new electrical identifier for the VW family. The look is characterized by a reduced design and a simple but modern interior. It is available with two batteries with a capacity of 58 or 77 kWh for a distance of 425 or 539 kilometers. So far, there is only one electric motor with an output of 150 kW (204 hp). Price: from 39,450 francs.
