When the body gets enough sun – it is enough UVB radiation – it usually produces enough vitamin D. However, if you are not (too) exposed to the sun, for example in autumn and winter when the sky is cloudy, you can help with drops of vitamin D. but it does not mean you should not go out regularly. Even in cloudy weather, it can be a half-hour walk for body and soul balm.
Vitamin D is the only vitamin that can be produced by the body itself (and therefore is essentially more of a hormone than vitamin). And more and more new studies show how important a good level is. Since vitamin D not only contributes significantly to the strong immune system and promotes the immune system, it is also important for a stable psyche because the symptoms of deficiency can aggravate exhaustion and depression.
However, vitamin D can do much more, as shown by several studies. It should promote performance and endurance, which is particularly interesting for athletes. This is one of the findings of a recent study published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology. This is shown by the director of Amra Marawan's study at Virginia Commonwealth University in the US that "a higher level of vitamin D is associated with better training capacity."
This study examined whether people with higher levels of vitamin D in the blood had better cardiorespiratory fitness. Cardiorespiratory fitness shows how well breathing and blood circulation provides the body with oxygen. There is a link between higher levels of vitamin D and better mobility in men and women, young and middle age groups and regardless of body weight index, "says Marawan.
These new findings correspond to a number of learning outcomes in recent years. "Anyone who brings vitamin D levels to speed can do better in sports, on the contrary, vitamin D deficiency can cause a collapse of athletic performance," the German Health Center recently wrote on a survey of various studies on the topic. "Vitamin D improves the resistance and performance of the cardio-pulmonary system, promotes muscle growth and increases testosterone production."
More power cardiopulmonary system
Various studies with athletes have shown, for example, a higher oxygen intake due to vitamin D, a reduction in the degree of inflammation of the muscles and an increase in energy levels. Two independent studies, presented by the British Journal of Nutrition in 2016, have also shown that vitamin D can improve the performance of the heart and lung system.
The fact that a sufficient supply of vitamin D is essentially "very important for human health," the Federal Public Health Office (FOPH) highlights in a report. The Federal Food and Veterinary Office ("BLV") has published specific recommendations for meeting the vitamin D daily requirement.
But before taking vitamin D in the form of drops or tablets, you should measure vitamin D levels in a family doctor and, if necessary, consult the dose. Because overdose for a long time can also be harmful.
