Huawei is working on Kirin 980 processor heir and plans to introduce a new product in the first quarter of 2019.
The new Kirin 990 chip will also be manufactured using 7 nanometer technology, according to the online edition of Chronicle.info, linking to New Time.
Kirin 980 was the first chipset built on 7 nm processes with the first Cortex-A76 cores. While the Kirin 990 will have a similar architecture including the number of transistors and power consumption, it will be released as the first processor with a Balong 5000 modem that is certified for 5G speeds.
When compared to a new Kirin 980 processor, it will be 10% more energy efficient and more productive. Information on other technical specifications was not accepted.
According to sources, the Kirin 990 processor has already been tested by Huawei with TSMC to prepare it for release in early 2019. The insiders industry claims that the HiSilicon subsidiary has invested approximately 200 million yuan in research and development, which is more than $ 28 million.
