Astronomers have discovered a new supermassive black hole reminiscent of a giant fountain. It is located at the center of the Abell 2597 galaxy, a billion light-years away from Earth.
According to the scientific alert, the hole creates a closed loop from which the cold molecular gas comes out and falls back. That's why the scientists compared it with the fountain.
"Perhaps this is the first system in which we have found clear evidence of both the cold molecular gas flow to the black hole and the discharge or lifting of the nozzles emitted by the black hole," said Grant Tremblay of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. .
It is also stated that the hole itself does not produce gas – it attracts gravitational force.
As OBOZREVATEL wrote, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics scientists have found that living organisms can settle across the Milky Way through various space objects, including meteorites, asteroids and comets.
