College Basketball Rankings: Villanova won the NCAA last season but fell from the top 20 in the top 25 and 1

Villanova ranked among the top ten rankings, despite losing top four winners from the last year of the winning team, mainly due to the return of Eric Paschall and Phil Booth – and Jahvon Quinerly, who has entered the top 10 recruiting classes.

But did everyone underestimate the impact of these losses?

At least in the middle of the night it was for sure – because Michigan went to Villanova, prematurely jumped Wildcats and recorded Victory 73-46 it was probably even more impressive than the Duke's 34-point Kentucky destruction with respect to Michigan was a 6.5-point underdog who won 27 in a true road environment. And now it's fair to think how good Villanova is in the current state because Wildcats are again a team that has lost its four best scores – and the recruiting class, except Saddiq Bay, has not had any influence yet. Quinerly, for example, only played eight minutes against Michigan.

To be clear, Villanova should be fine … in time.

Wildcat, of course, is trying to solve a life without Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, Omari Spellman and Donte DiVincenzo. So I dropped them to the 21st place on Thursday morning updated CBS Sports Top 25 and 1. And Michigan is now number 8 because John Beilein is a magician.
