Less than three days after he was arrested for charges of domestic violence, Reuben Foster was indicted by Washington Redskins.
San Francisco 49ers released Foster on Sunday morning, hours after his arrest in a team hotel in Tampa, Fla.
Doug Williams, Senior Vice President of Staff for Washington, said on Tuesday afternoon that he was not assured that the team would activate Foster. The NFL placed the linebacker on the list of freed commissioners.
"Today we have declared the rights to LB Reuben Foster." Redskins will fully understand the severity of the recent charges against Reuben. "If that's true, you can be sure that these accusations are nothing that our organization would never want to meet," Williams said.
"Let me be clear that Reuben will have to go through a number of steps, including the full legal process, investigation and eventual NFL disciplines, as well as meeting with team consultants before he ever has the opportunity to wear Burgundy and Gold as a player. , we decided to investigate the situation with Reuben further by claiming his rights after frank interviews with a number of his ex-Alabama teammates and current Redskins players who were courageously backing that we took this chance is promised to Reuben but we hope that around so many of his former teammates and friends will eventually offer the best possible environment for success personally and professionally. "
When Foster is on the list of freed commissioners, he can not work with the team or participate in games but can attend meetings or participate in individual exercises or other permitted non-football activities.
The NFL has not announced whether to suspend Foster, 24, who has a history of legal difficulties in addition to the recent arrest.

The second degree of charges of holding marijuana stemming from the arrest in January in Alabama was released when it was first for the first time.
In February, he met several crimes, including domestic violence, causing criminal threats and possession of weapons. These accusations came from the accusation of a former girlfriend that she attacked her at her home in Los Gatos, south of San Jose, California.
When a woman filed her charges, only a weapon charge remained, and Foster did not ask for any weapon possession.
Foster was sentenced in July to a two-year probation, 232 hours of community service and $ 235 in fines.
NFL interrupted Foster for the first two games this season, citing linguistic behavior and substance abuse standards.
Foster did not play in the last three matches 49ers. He missed two because of a blow in the strike and he was labeled as dubious for the Sunday game against Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The first round of selection in 2017, the 31st player who has been chosen, has Foster in the six games he played this season without bags, forced fumbles, unsatisfactory loses or capture.
