Elliott Abrams, US Special Representative for Venezuela, said on Thursday in the United Nations Security Council (UN) that they are members of the body that protects Nicolás Maduro.
"Voting against this resolution, some members of this council continue to protect Madura, and weekend events show that Maduro will not stop retaining power," Abrams said.
The United States has proposed a resolution calling for free elections in Venezuela. Nine countries voted for, three voted against and three abstentions.
The resolution was not approved because Russia, a permanent member of the Council, voted against
